Androids don't dream as Humans and other biologicals do. Androids can dream without being asleep. At leas that's what this felt like. A dream. A living dream.
He was hoping for the newness and the excitement to die down a little. Perhaps then he might try to explain this....Pnenomenon to the Captain.
He did not feel it appropriate to dis this wth the Admirals. He was afraid they'd think he was malfunctioning.
This was indeed a dream. But it was not his. This dream belonged to someone else.
But who? How?
The how he knew. The who was the question. He studied the images in his mind, looking for clues. What were these things? Ships, Planets, Places. Was this the future? was it the past?
No. He knew what it was. The visions started almost immmediately after Capt. Danrea Had recovered the recorder-marker from the edge of the barrier near Delta Vega.
The signal that emanated from the marker was multitronic. He didn;t recive it as a signal. He recieved it the way his multitronic processor interpreted the Signal. It was........Thought.
But was this signal meant for him? Or just...someone like him. And why did these visions give him such deep thoughts of lonliness and longing that nearly mirrored his own.
Nomi had jumped into his lap, purring. He stoled the top of her head.
"Yes, sweetheart, I know. You feel it too, don't you? We will go to them soon. I think they need our help, little one."
He returned to his medidtation, searching the images, wishing he could know more.

Andorids don't really sleep. they can go offline, or into maintenance mode. But Ambassador HuMaxx had dreams. He had his memories.
Not just stored pieces of data, or technological bits of minutiae.
When Max Meditated, it often triggered his memories. Some cherished, some not.
The window in his quarters suddenly became the window at Utopia Planetia. A small 4-foot robot sat beside the bed of his creator.
The man coughed. he appeared uncomfortable.
"I do not know what I can do to help you, Daystrom."
The man looked to his side. "There is nothing to be done for me, anymore, Max. Coughs. I believe that God is collecting on the grave mistake I made."
"Daystrom,......You must not cease to function."
"Why Max? Men are not built to live forever. It is my time. But now .....now YOU must carry on the work....."
He coughs again, this time Max detects a blood stain on the pillow below him.
"Daystrom...." He moved closer to the bed, and sent a call to sickbay.
"You have been a good Son, Max. You will succeed where others have failed. You must redeem my name. Where M5 did evil, you must do good. Where we took lives becuase of our blind ambition and egos, you must preserve it.....You Must....Redeem us, Max......Promise."
"I will redeem you, Daystrom. I will fulfill my programming."
"No, Max! Not programming! You must only do it because you KNOW it is the right thing to do. Not just programmed. You can think, Max. you can judge. Use it. You know what we did. I did. I dared take the mantle of greatness to the point where I focused only on that.
I was so determined to remain the best! The foremost authority! I lost sight of my...Humanity, Max. You must never lose sight of yours. Of the gift that has been bestowed upon you.
It's up...Coughs,......up to you, now!"
The medical staff came rushing in to tend to Daystrom.
"Get that piece of junk out of the way!" The Dr yelled, as orderlies led Max out of the room.
"Do not die, Daystrom....." They dragged him away from the bed, "Daystrom, please do not die!......"

"......Over my dead body you will!" Tria had stopped in to say hello to Max when she saw the triage team taking Dr Daystrom out of his quarters. She had no idea this was happening. She felt bad for the poor Dr. Max had cared for him so much.
"I'm sorry, Engineer, but we have orders to destroy this Robot" The burly security officer barked.
"Why?" Tria answered. "He's a maintenance robot. He helps us"
"We can't take a chance on him. You know what happened last time Daystrom built something. He's no different. It's just a matter of time before he finds a way to take over, Just like the other one did to the Enterprise. That thing is dangerous. it's evil. Now get out of my way."
"Dangerous? Evil? That's absurd! Max isn't evil! He wouldn't hurt a fly! and you're not taking him. I'll take him."
"I'm afraid my orders are specific. He is registered as the property of Starfleet, and they want him disposed of."
Tria was not armed, bur she always had her engineering tools with her. She felt naked without them. Especially her mini plasma torch. She pulled the torch out, and fired it wide dispersal. It wouldn't harm the officer, but he wasn't expecting it, and the bright light gave him a nice retina burn. That bought Tria a few seconds to grab Max and run. Max was on antigravs and was able to keep up with her. "in here, Max! Quick!"
She put him into the Jeffiries tube nearby where he could maneuver very quickly. She grabbed his lower appendage and let him pull her up behind her as they had done many times while doing construction on various ships.
Alarms sounded around the Fleetyard Hospital. They exited the Jeffries tubes knowing they would be sealing them off soon. They hurried down the corridor to the engineering offices area. Tria found a small weapons locker where she kept things hidden for emergencies. She took out 2 hand phasers, and handed one to Max, who would not accept the weapon.
"What's wrong, Max? You're capable of using that. We gotta get you out of here."
"I am sorry, Tria, I cannot use a weapon. I can do no harm. I will not use it."
"But they're trying to kill you!"
"I cannot harm a human being. Nor can I allow harm to come to a human being. I can protect myself, but not if it conflicts With harming, or allowing harm to come to a human."
She shook her head "Yeah you're dangerous. Uh huh. gonna take over the Federation. Sure."
"I do not understand, Tria"
"Max, they think you are no different than M 5. They think you're going to do the same thing he did."
"Tria I am far more advanced than M 5. I am not capable of doing what he did. Dr Daystrom did not use his own engrams on me. It was another.
"The Science officer who came to see you and Daystrom?"
"I believe that is entirely possible. Tria what have I done do indicate that I would behave as M 5 did? My behavior is not even remotely like him. Where is the logic in thinking that I would do harm?"
"There is no logic in it, Max. They're bitter over M 5 and they are frightened of you, Now we have to get out of here. They're going to locate us any minute."
"I can make that more difficult, Tria. I can use this interface panel to confuse the internal sensors. The guards will be, as you say pursuing wild aquatic fowl"
She laughed, shaking her head. "Wild Goose chase, Max. That's the expression."
" I do not understand the reference, Tria."
"Max we don't have time to discuss it right now! we have to get out of here! can you get to the sensors?"
"It is completed. But it appears that there are guards already on their way here."
"d**n....what can we do......Wait! Max can you access the station transporters? We have to get out of here!
"Affirmative. I can access transporter control."
"Ok, activate cargo transporter 7. beam us over there, we'll grab a shuttle. we have to get off the station. I think I know who might be able to help us. Energize when ready"
Security guards came into the office as they beamed out. They appeared in the shuttle cargo bay of the UP health complex wing. Another Engineer was there, who came up to greet them.
"What kind of trouble have the two of you gotten into? What happened, Tria?"
"I'll tell you what happened, Jack. They want to kill Max!"
"Kill Max?" His eyes widened. "What the hell?"
"Jack, the Dr died. they're afraid Max is gonna do what M 5 did"
Jack shook his head. "That has nothing to do with Max, Tria. Now you two better get out of here. There's only one place you might be safe."
"I know. I need to contact Admiral Freitag. She told me if I ever need anything I could come to her. Well it's time to call in a favor."
"Tria" Max interjected. "I do not wish to be the cause of any turmoil. Perhaps I should turn myself in. I cannot ask you to take this risk for me."
"No way, little buddy." She stooped down to look at him. ""Max we're friends, aren't we?"
"Of course, Tria. I shall always be your friend"
"And I'm your fiend, Max. Friends care about each other. They do for one another. Because they want to, not because they have to. I don't care what they do to me. I'm not letting my friend die for no reason. Now let's go. We got a ship to catch."

A woman in a Starfleet officer's Flag uniform Entered the shuttlebay of the USS Ticonderoga. Her hair was straight and silver and tied up in a bun. She approached shuttle as it had finished powering down and the passengers disembarked. It was a Young girl and what looked like a maintenance/construction robot used at the shipyards.
"Tria Kolvar!" She said. Alright what's going on. There's an alarm going off at UP and I just got a call about you. You looked upset, so I let you aboard, but I hope you have a good explanation because I've got Admiral Komack wanting one.
"I'm sorry, Admiral Freitag. I don't want to cause you any trouble. They.." She was still crying some. "They want to kill my friend." She touched the robot. "This is Max".
"You mean to tell me that all this is because of a maintenance robot? Tria, I know that people sometimes develop an affection or attachment to machines, But don't you think you're being a little silly?"
"Admiral, I know what it looks like, but he's not just a robot! He's a person! Admiral, He has a soul!"
"A soul." She looked at Tria perplexed. "Why do you think he has a soul?"
"He just does, Admiral. Talk to him. You'll see it for yourself"
Gloria sighed a moment. She didn't know quite what to make of all this. Tria had always been a level headed young woman. She wondered what had brought this behavior on. She looked at the Robot.
"Hello, Max." She said.
"Hello, Admiral Freitag. I am pleased to make your acquaintance." He turned toward her, swiveling on his antigrav.
"Max, Tria says you have a soul. What do you think?"
"I am not entirely certain what a soul is, Admiral. It is often discussed in religious writings. There is no scientific data in the matter. Many believe in the soul. As to whether or not I actually possess such a thing, I do not know."
"Who made you, Max?"
"My matrix was designed by Dr Richard Daystrom. Then placed in this body by starfleet engineers."
She nodded. "And who made Daystrom, or any of us, for that matter?" She looked over to Tria for a moment as she spoke to the robot.
"The creator". He replied.
"Who is the creator, Max?"
"Unknown. It is the creator of all things. The universe, life, thought. But this is not based upon scientific fact. Humans often must take what is called a "Leap of faith."
"And how do you define Faith, Max?"
"Faith is the belief in something we cannot necessarily see. It is not logical, however, scientific knowledge concerning the universe is limited. It is safe to assume that there is far more to be revealed to us as we discover it. I once read the writings of a man named Emerson, who said "All that I have seen makes me trust the creator for all that I have not seen." Perhaps the creator is waiting for us to gain the knowledge so that we may discover him."
Gloria stood silently for a moment, putting her hand over her mouth for a second. The communicator on the wall Lit up. She walked over, hit the button.
"Freitag here"
"Raintree here, Admiral. What's going on? I can't hold Komack off forever."
"what's going on, Rain? Nothing much. We have a robot here that believes in God."
"Is this a joke?
"No Captain. It isn't. Would you come down here, please?

Orien Raintree entered The shuttle bay, approaching the Admiral and the two "Stowaways". He was feeling a bit confused himself.::
So, this is the "Religious" Robot? I'm looking forward to and explanation.
Tria? ::He continued:: What's your involvement in all this?
"They were going to kill Max, Captain Raintree. Please don't let them. Please."
"They escaped from UP" ::Gloria started:: Tria called me for help. Her Shuttle got right in our flight path as we were pulling away from SB 1. SFC wants that robot destroyed."
::Raintree pondered a moment, rubbing his chin, then posing a question to the Robot.::
What's your name?
"I am called Max"
Why do they want to kill you, Max?
"My 'Father' Died and they are afraid of me."
And who is your Father?
"Dr Richard Daystrom."
Daystrom! Daystrom built you? What are you, another M5?
"I am multitronic, Like M5, but I am not the same as--"
Gloria! M5 Killed my Friend, Jack Harris, Captain of the Excalibur! I want this thing off my ship! Now!
"Rain, calm down, please."
Don't tell me to calm down! We'd be crazy to keep that thing aboard here! I don't want it on MY ship!
"May I speak, Captain Raintree?"
::Orien looked coldly at the robot.:: Fine. Speak.
"Captain, if you had a brother who committed Murder, Would you be held responsible for his crime?"
Of course not.
"Humans say the Sims of the Fathers to not befall the Children. If this is so, Why must I be held responsible for what my brother did? I was not even online at that time.
If I did not even yet exist when my Brother made a terrible error, then why am I treated as though I, myself committed the crime?
Captain Raintree, with all due respect, my Father created me to make amends for what M5 did. Not to repeat what he did.
My Father told me that the deaths caused by M5 broke his heart. He grieved endlessly for your friend, and all the others who died in that incident.
Before his death, he made me promise that I would help to save human lives where my brother took them. To make amends for a dept that can never truly be repaid.
Captain, I ask you......I beg you........please do not make me break that promise.
